The Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre (NCERC) hosted the 24-Hour Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2026 on 9 and 10 September 2026, organised by the NCERC Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC). The event brought together enthusiastic student teams to develop innovative technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges.
The hackathon commenced on 9 September with an official inauguration ceremony, marked by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in the presence of dignitaries, mentors and participants. Inspiring addresses and keynotes encouraged the young innovators to think creatively and transform ideas into impactful solutions. Teams then began an intensive 24-hour journey of ideation, collaboration and prototype development across domains including Artificial Intelligence, Web and App Development, IoT, Robotics and Embedded Systems.
The event concluded on 10 September with the Internal Screening Round, where participating teams presented their solutions and prototypes. Adv. Dr. P. Krishnadas, Chancellor, PK Das Deemed to be University, Tamil Nadu, Honorary Trade Commissioner of Mauritius–India, and Chairman & Managing Trustee, Nehru Group of Institutions, along with Dr. Anoop K. J., Principal, NCERC, visited the venue, interacted with the teams and appreciated their innovative efforts.
