Department of Applied Sciences is an integral part of an Engineering Institution, imparting quality education in the area of Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry, and Environmental science for the future technocrats. It is essentially the foundation stone for various engineering courses offered by Kerala Technological University (KTU). Applied science is a bridge that connects pure, basic science like physics or chemistry with engineering practices. The curriculum of the department is cantered around most basic objects and forces, with emphasis on practical applications along with an ability to express oneself in formal manner.

The department of Applied Sciences aims to provide a strong foundation in the fundamental sciences to build or design products for societal needs. Students of engineering at Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre (NCERC) are inculcated with a strong sense of appreciation for tools of analysis as well as the knowledge of the principles on which modern engineering is based. The department strives to develop scientific temper, the spirit of enquiry and encourages the students to apply the physical laws in their respective fields of studies. The department also endeavors to make the budding technocrats well-equipped and well-versed in their prospective professional careers. The Department has well equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Communication Skills. The department explores the interdisciplinary strengths in the fundamental sciences and emerging areas, and enhances application based research. The department is well equipped with all modern teaching aids and encourages use of latest technologies to attract the students’ imagination and thinking outside the box.
